The Market Today There are several regular markets that take place, all with distinct, local good quality produce:

Antiques Market: also called the ‘Flea market’ has many quality collectibles for sale by traders and has been operating in the market in one form or another for a long time.

General Market: There are around 40 different traders in this market from someone selling a pile of socks to a tractor!  There are stalls such as a make your own wine stall, fishmonger, several fruit and veg suppliers, many of which take their food from local farms as near as 1.5 miles from the market itself.  This means that the food got from these retailers is very fresh having been picked the day before or maybe even that morning.

Furniture and electrical market: This originally was called a Bazaar, in the Indian street market meaning of the word.  This has many retailers of second hand furniture, electrical goods and other household effects, and is in fact the largest display of its kind in the county with plenty of bargains.

Farmers market: This is one of the success stories of the market; farmers come here to learn retail skills using the knowledge from the people in the market and then go away and start their own farm shops, like a training ground for local farmers.  There are a lot of locally produced fruit, veg, meat and other products.

Boot Fair: Anybody with a load of -one-persons-junk-another-persons-treasure- can turn up and put up a stall in this popular indoor boot fair.  All kinds of things can be found, mainly second hand.

Food Hall One of the things that is new for the market is the food hall.  A local cafe has set up shop in the market and selling to market visitors food, teas and coffees, with places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

Box Scheme A new scheme on the horizon is a box collection scheme, whereby you can order your produce through the market manager over the phone, the order will be sorted for you, then you can pick it up later.

This makes it easier for you, there is no waiting, no parking charges because you just stop off by the market and collect your box.

Just order, collect and leave.
